Frequently Asked questions
1) Is there space for my luggage? What if it's really big?
Absolutely! Carrying your luggage is no problem at all. If it's really too large to the point of making the trip uncomfortable, we can always send the bag ahead on a bus and pick it up upon arrival.
2) What kind of motorbikes do you use?
We ride 125cc Honda motorcycles with built-in backrests. We routinely maintain our bikes to make sure they're in top condition.
3) What if I'm driving my own motorbike and just need a guide? Can I do that?
Yes! Please contact us to discuss your specific trip. We're happy to be a guide to wherever you're headed.
4) Is it safe?
Your safety is extremely important to us. We cater to all ages and we have taken families with children as young as 7 as well as retirees on our tours and we have an excellent safety record. We provide good quality helmets and keep our bikes in top condition. All of our bikes are 125cc Honda's with built-in passenger backrests and ample space on the back for any sized luggage. Our guides take regular breaks so you are never on the road more than 30-45 minutes at a time and they pay careful attention to the road conditions.
5) What's included in the cost of the trip? Will I have to pay for fuel?
The cost of the trip includes nearly everything - guide, fuel, entrance fees, and accommodation. The only extra costs will be food (you'll generally eat with the drivers but everyone pays for themselves), drinks and gratuities.
6) I'm not sure how comfortable I feel about riding with someone I've only just met. Can I meet the guides before?
Yes! Hieu and the other guides love meeting with their guests before their trip over coffee or beer. During this time they'll show you the route on their maps, chat about Vietnamese culture, tell you more about the trip and answer any questions you may have. We can also take you around town on a short ride to make sure you feel comfortable before booking a longer tour. Please contact us to arrange a meeting.
7) What is the accommodation like during the multi-day trips?
Usually you'll have the option between staying in a hotel or a home stay. The hotel will be a basic room, but comfortable and clean with hot water and air conditioning. Home stays vary depending on location but will obviously be much more basic - usually a sleeping pad and mosquito net in a traditional longhouse.
8) Will the driver stop for me to take pictures?
You bet. Your driver is your personal guide. They'll stop every 30-45 minutes for a general rest but will also stop when they know there's a great photo opportunity. However, they'll also stop wherever you would like, just let them know.
9) How do I pay?
You'll pay upon arrival in your destination. On multi-day trips you'll likely pay daily so that the riders can have money to pay for the accommodation, fuel, etc. We only accept cash.
10) Can I design my own tour?
You can definitely design your own tour if you want to go somewhere special in mind. Just contact us and we'll sit down and talk about where you want to go, what you want to see and how we can make it happen.
